DC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy celebrated its annual Conversation Changers celebration on May 10, 2005 at the True Reformer Building, 1200 U Street, N.W. This year, DC Campaign saluted two of its founding funders, the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation and the Philip L. Graham Fund for their leadership and vision

The effervescent Ms. Talia Brittingham and the deep-voiced Mr. DeMario Greene, both members of the DC Campaign Youth Leadership Task Force and graduating seniors at Benjamin Banneker High School, gave warm words of welcome.

The evening’s entertainment provided opportunities to meet and have a photo taken with Michigan J. Frog from Washington’s WB and to be mesmerized by the delightful and talented magician and balloon sculptor, Todd Davis. Guests participated in hand dancing 101, an authentic DC art form, courtesy of the charismatic Don Pedro DeSilva and also learned a line dance from line dancer extraordinaire, John Hudson.

Ms. Christine Catlett, Ms. Kelley Jones and Mr. Mathew Charles all DC Campaign Youth Leadership Task Force members presented the coveted Conversation Changers award to Ms. Kathleen Zeifang, acting executive director of the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation and Ms. Candice Bryant, executive director of the Philip L. Graham Fund.

“DC Campaign deeply appreciates the partnership we enjoy with local philanthropists and foundations including the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation and the Philip L. Graham Fund,” said Executive Director Brenda Rhodes Miller. “Their encouragement, advice and financial support make it possible for us to organize the entire community around the goal of cutting DC’s teen pregnancy rate in half,” she said.
