The theme of DC Campaign's 3rd annual benefit and awards celebration came from the Youth Leadership Task Force. Aghast by national news reports about Washington, DC, one teen proclaimed, "That's not THE DC I'M FROM" and the rest, as they say, is history.

Under a full moon on a cloudy night, 160 guests experienced urban youth culture through food, music, art and gosimplygiving_web_button1.gifentertainment.

You can still join the party by supporting DC Campaign's work.

This year's Standing in the Gap awardee was the William C. Smith Co.  For the past 17 years, this company has been 'standing in the gap" for young people through their summer youth employment programs.  Youth earn a salary; participate in training programs; attend job skills and resume writing workshops; develop conflict resolution skills; learn etiquette; and plan for the future during college and career days.dcusa_logo.jpg

Grid Properties, Inc. on behalf of DC USA and Target are changing the conversation by focusing on what's right with teens and were awarded the Conversation Changer Award.  Grid Properties, Inc. is a major developer and owner of large-scale urban retail projects where young people can connect to their target_08_red_rgb_300x380.jpgneighborhood and build towards the future.  For Target, providing employment opportunities for teens in communities where they operate stores is part of their sense of corporate responsability.

This year DC Campaign Board members made the evening extra special with the introduction of a Celebrity Auction.  A live auction of rare opportunities to spend times with thirteen of today's outstanding personalities generated lots of fund, not a little competitive bidding, and best of all raised significant funding to support the essential work of DC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.
