DC Campaign To Prevent Teen Pregnancy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in April 1999 as a result of the work of the Mayor’s Committee on Reducing Teenage Pregnancies and Out-of-Wedlock Births.
The mission of DC Campaign is to improve the lives and well being of adolescents in Washington, DC by reducing the teen pregnancy rate to 32.2 per 1,000 girls, 15-19 by 2015. Reducing teen pregnancy still remains a critical, high leverage intervention that can expand opportunities for every young person. It is far more effective, and far less costly, than after the fact efforts to deal with developmental disabilities, child abuse, school failure and poverty.

DC Campaign pursues its mission by:
- Building relationships, grounded in trust and shared goals that are essential to effect change;
- Sharing/Compiling Data, which forms the foundation for good personal and policy decisions;
- Advocating on behalf of teens and providing them with opportunities to speak for themselves;
- Enlisting the media to spread the word about teen pregnancy and its connection to other issues; and
- Organizing people closest to the issues that affect the health and well being of young people.
DC Campaign does not duplicate existing programs or initiatives. Rather we fill a number of critical unmet needs including serving as a:
- Catalyst for improved services across the spectrum of prevention efforts;
- Lever to increase financial support for effective programs;
- Convener of experts and networks;
- Promoter and disseminator of research- and evidence-based best practices;
- Training resource; and
- Powerful public voice to focus attention and resources on what teens need to thrive.
